DIESEL MECHANIC needed IMMEDIATELY in our Maintenance Shop of our transportation company.
Seeking individuals experienced in diesel engine preventive maintenance, brakes, etc. for bus and/or large vehicles. Individual performs technical vehicle maintenance work involving disassembly, repair, assembly and/or installation of major and minor bus components. Applicant should display independent judgment capabilities within established guidelines.


  • Perform tasks in one or several maintenance areas of bus activity.

  • Diagnose and repair any and all systems on large vehicles.

  • Perform minor engine work; remove, replace and diagnose transmission and other major and minor component problems

  • Notify supervisor of status of incomplete jobs at each shift change

  • Handle equipment related road calls

  • Diagnosing problem and provide recommendations for repairs

  • Required to drive replacement vehicle to operator when needed-requires valid CDL license.

  • Document repair orders into computer designating all work performed and parts used to repair any company vehicle

  • Remove and replace tires

  • Perform tasks which may include heavy physical labor

  • Help to maintain and organize cleanliness and general condition of shop

  • Operate vehicle between work areas

  • Interact in professional manner with Company drivers and other departments as necessary

  • Perform all tasks in conformity with safety and maintenance practices and procedures

  • Other duties possible as assigned by Director of Maintenance or other Management


  • Knowledge of all major and minor systems, assemblies and sub-assemblies of all Company operating equipment

  • Ability to diagnose major and minor mechanical problems and solve using maintenance manuals, parts manuals, service bulletins, wiring or other system schematics, diagrams or flow charts

  • Ability to rebuild, repair, modify or replace whatever is deemed necessary to correct a major or minor malfunction, problem or other undesirable situation

  • Possess knowledge of current D.O.T. rules and be able to apply these to the ongoing repair and maintenance of all Company equipment

  • Possess knowledge and ability to operate all diagnostic and shop equipment relating to the operation and repair of vehicles

  • Possess your own necessary tools to perform mechanical and repair tasks as necessary

  • Possess knowledge and ability to identify and look up the correct parts needed to maintain company vehicles

  • CDL and State Inspection license preferred at hire or obtain immediately after hire, A/C Certifications a plus

  • Starting Wage based upon required credentials held when hired. Maintenance division has 2 work shifts-Night shift incudes Night differential. Monthly bonuses included in compensation pkg.

  • All positions are Full Time hourly w/ complete benefit pkg.

  • Lead Mechanic or Supervisory experience a plus for growth in the company.

  • Minimal Required education: 5 years of experience with large vehicle maintenance

  • Computer diagnostic experience
