A Legacy of Leadership: Doug Anderson
Leadership in the charter bus industry isn’t just about running a successful company; it’s about shaping the future of motorcoach travel as a whole. For decades, Doug Anderson, owner of Anderson Coach & Travel, has done exactly that through his unwavering commitment to the American Bus Association (ABA) and the broader motorcoach industry.
Doug recently stepped down from his roles as past Chairman of the ABA Board of Directors and past Marketplace Chair, marking the close of an impactful chapter of service. During his tenure, Doug played a vital role in advocating for charter bus operators, strengthening industry partnerships, and helping guide the ABA through periods of growth and change. His leadership helped elevate conversations around safety, innovation, sustainability, and the evolving needs of charter bus companies nationwide.
The ABA Marketplace, one of the most influential annual events in the charter bus and group travel industry, benefited greatly from Doug’s steady leadership and forward-thinking vision. His efforts helped ensure the Marketplace remained a valuable space for motorcoach operators, tour companies, suppliers, and travel professionals to connect, learn, and grow together.
While Doug may be stepping back from these national leadership roles, the Anderson legacy within the ABA is far from over.
We are proud to share that Evan Anderson, Doug’s son and a third-generation leader at Anderson Coach & Travel, has been appointed to the ABA Board of Directors. Evan’s appointment reflects not only his personal dedication to the industry, but also the trust and respect he has earned among his peers.
As the charter bus industry continues to evolve, Evan brings a fresh perspective rooted in both tradition and innovation. His experience working within a family-owned motorcoach company gives him a unique understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing today’s charter bus operators, from fleet modernization and driver recruitment to customer experience and operational efficiency.
This transition represents more than a change in titles, it’s a powerful example of continuity, mentorship, and long-term commitment to the motorcoach and charter bus business. Few industries can boast multi-generational leadership at both the company and national association level, and we are incredibly proud to see Anderson Coach & Travel represented in this way.
Doug’s years of service with the American Bus Association have left a lasting mark on the charter bus industry, and Evan’s new role ensures that the Anderson voice will continue to help guide the future of motorcoach travel for years to come.
From all of us at Anderson Coach & Travel, we extend our sincere gratitude to Doug for his remarkable leadership and our congratulations to Evan as he steps into this exciting new chapter of industry service.
