Anderson Coach & Travel Employee Awarded 2026 PBA Scholarship
Anderson Coach & Travel is proud to celebrate one of our own! Senior Accountant Sam Shacklock has been selected as one of two recipients of the 2026 Pennsylvania Bus Association (PBA) Annual Scholarship Award.
The Scholarship Program recognizes employees and dependent family members of PBA member companies who are pursuing higher education through a college degree or trade certification.
Sam, who joined Anderson Coach & Travel in March 2026, received a $2,500 scholarship and commemorative plaque in recognition of her academic achievement and commitment to professional growth.
A resident of Hermitage, PA, Sam is completing her Bachelor of Science in Accounting, with graduation expected in August 2026. She previously earned an Associate degree in Marketing and brings nearly two decades of experience in accounting, banking, and financial operations to her role at Anderson. Before joining our team, she spent seven years with PPG Industries in various accounting positions and ten years with First National Bank in deposit operations.
For Sam, continuing her education has been both a personal and professional goal.
"When I started at PPG, I was encouraged to take advantage of the company's employee education program," she said. "As I learned more about accounting, I discovered I really enjoyed the analytical and problem-solving aspects of the profession. Pursuing my degree has allowed me to strengthen my skills, grow professionally, and prepare for new opportunities in my career."
The scholarship will help reduce the student loans she has taken on while completing her degree.
"This scholarship means a great deal to both me and my family," Sam shared. "It eases the financial burden of completing my education and allows me to focus on achieving my goal of earning my bachelor's degree. My family has supported me throughout this journey, and receiving this scholarship is a meaningful recognition of the hard work and dedication we've all contributed."
Sam also expressed her appreciation to both Anderson Coach & Travel and the Pennsylvania Bus Association for investing in employee development.
"I am truly grateful for your investment in my education and professional development. Your support will help me continue working toward my degree while growing in my career. She hopes her experience inspires others to pursue their educational goals, even while balancing a full-time career.
"Continuing my education while working full-time has been challenging, but it has also been incredibly rewarding. This scholarship reinforces the value of lifelong learning and motivates me to continue growing both personally and professionally."
The Pennsylvania Bus Association established its scholarship program in 2023 to encourage higher education among employees and families of member bus companies. Applicants must meet academic standards and be enrolled full-time in an accredited college, university, professional school, or trade program.
