Day 1 • Mount Vernon, VA: Today we travel to Mount Vernon, the home of our nation’s first president, George Washington. There is so much to see and learn here! Immerse yourself in a Revolutionary War "snow" experience, tour the museum and see over 1,000 artifacts, and take in the gorgeous view of the Potomac River from the beautiful piazza. Later, enjoy a night tour of the city seeing the beautiful illuminated memorials including the moving Pentagon Memorial.
Day 2 • Smithsonian Institution: Today we enjoy taking in the rich culture and history of our nation within the beauty of springtime! We visit the FDR and Jefferson Memorials as well as the World War II Memorial. Afterward, we will tour the famed Smithsonian Institution. Here we explore multiple different museums that per your interest. Visit The National Air & Space Museum and experience the history of flight; The Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden to see a collection of 19th and 20th century artwork; The National Museum of African Art - the only museum in the U.S. with an exclusive collection of art from sub-Saharan Africa; the newly renovated National Museum of American History with over 3 million artifacts including the original Star Spangled Banner; The National Museum of Natural History which is home to many amazing national treasures including the Hope Diamond; and The National Museum of the American Indian where you experience the spirit of the native people.
